Reason 4: Inability to track internal and external deliverables without impacting project schedule dates

Project Server 2003:

Project Server 2003 does not support managing inter project dependencies without affecting the schedule dates.

Project Server 2007:

Project Server 2007 has a new feature called “Deliverables” which helps to manage the soft dependencies across projects without affecting the schedule dates in the project plans.

Deliverables can be managed from Project Plans and SharePoint. Deliverables can be synchronized between project schedule and SharePoint entries. The advantage of managing deliverables from SharePoint is that delivery managers can provide the delivery items from SharePoint and PMs can sync that deliverable into project plans
