Reason 14: Publishing through single line queue
Project Server 2003:
In Project Server 2003, publishing process will go through View Drop folder. Purpose of the View Drop folder is to process the project and resource information and update the database tables required for OLAP cube. View Drop folder is similar to driving the car in a single lane. If the car in front of you stops with any mechanical failure, you have to wait till it got moved. Similarly, if one corrupted project plan enters into the queue, it blocks the publishing process of subsequent plans. This is one of the reasons; your OLAP data might be not consistent with data in project plan.
Project Server 2007:
In Project Server 2007, queue architecture is fully redesigned and it operates on multi thread mode. Project Server 2007 queue doesn’t block the subsequent project publish process due to failure of any project plan.
